We deliver multiple programmes for men across the North of England that challenge individuals to address unhealthy behaviours in relationships.
Each of our programmes includes integrated support for partners or ex-partners of participating men; we always centre those who’ve been harmed in our work.
Relationships should never be harmful and no one deserves to feel afraid of their partner.
You may feel unable to control some of your behaviours, or you may be causing harm without realising the impact of what you are doing on your partner.
Joining one of our courses can help you understand why you’re causing harm and how it effects others. It can support you to change and help you refrain from harming future partners.
If you understand what unhealthy behaviours are and how to manage them, it stops children from learning them and reproducing them in their own relationships.

‘Harm’ does not just mean physical violence. Unhealthy behaviours that we address in our programmes include:
Our programmes support you to reflect on and understand the root causes of these behaviours. We then challenge you to break unhealthy habits and work towards a safe, healthy and happy coexistence with your partner or ex-partner. We prepare you to refrain from causing harm to any future partners.
Sessions are delivered in both groups and on a one-to-one basis. Course length and content may vary slightly depending on your local authority.

If you identify as male and have relationships with the opposite sex, you can join.
You don’t need to currently be in a relationship; you may be worried about how you’ve treated an ex-partner and want to address harm you’ve caused in the past.
If you identify as LGBTQIA+, please see our Individual Behaviour Change Programme. This programme is also designed for people who do not speak English as their first language.
Once you’ve contacted us, we’ll get in touch for an initial consultation. This will help you understand the course in more detail.
You’ll then go through a series of one-to-one sessions with a practitioner, followed by group sessions with other men on the course.
You’ll discuss your problems, relationships, and behaviours in those relationships with your practitioner.
You’ll then work through discussions and activities that centre on themes like respect and negotiation, non-violent behaviour, intimacy, trust, sexual respect, and child-centred parenting.
You’ll always have the support of our professionals and the ability to work together with men dealing with similar issues.
This depends on your local authority.
In most places, we offer up to 10 one-hour one-to-one sessions. These are followed by 30 group sessions.
Each lasts for one hour and takes place once per week.
Most men work with us for around 40 weeks.
We can let you know if your course will differ slightly once you contact us.
Your partner or ex-partners will know if you give us permission to contact them. They will have access to support while you are on the course.
Other than that, our service is completely confidential, meaning we won’t let anyone know outside of extreme circumstances where your behaviour could be considered high risk.
We offer integrated support to partners or ex-partners of all men on our behaviour change programmes.
Once you join, you’ll be asked for the details of people who have been affected by your behaviour.
They will be contacted separately and offered support.
The support we offer them is voluntary and will not affect the service you receive from us.
If you’re still unsure, you can contact Respect, a national charity working to end domestic abuse.
Respect can advise you on what to do, or if they believe a behaviour change programme will be suitable for you.
